




Ashland County WI - Parks and Campgrounds
Bay Shore Park, situated atop the Niagara Escarpment, offers a breathtaking view of the Bay of Green Bay. Scenic hiking trails follow the ledge of the escarpment - a geologic formation created 400 million years ago by an ancient sea. A breakwater and boat launch facility with protected harbor are also located within Bay Shore Park.
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
The ice caves are located at the Meyers Beach area of the Mainland Unit of the park in far northern Bayfield County. There is a parking area and stairs to the beach/ice at the end of Meyers Road. Meyers Beach is located, 18 miles west of Bayfield and 4 miles east of Cornucopia along Highway 13. The GPS address is: 90500 Meyers Road.
Big Bay State Park
This park is open year-round. This
141 acre park is on the 4th largest body of
water in Wisconsin. The park also includes
a designated swimming area, boat launch, game
room, playground equipment, heated showers
andrestroom facilities.
Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest
Boat landing on Castle Rock Lake. Fish for northern pike, bass, walleye, pan fish and muskellunge. From Friendship, go west on County I about 6 miles. Turn south on Z and drive 1 1/2 miles to the park. Boat landing only.
Copper Falls State Park
Boat

pike, bass and pan fish. From the intersection
of Hwys. 13 and 82, go west on Hwy. 82 to
1st Ave. Drive south 1/4 mile. Boat landing
only.
Morgan Falls/St. Peter’s Dome
is open year-round. This

Penokee Scenic Overlook & Trail
Boat landing on Easton
pond where anglers will find northern pike,
bass, panfish and trout. From
Friendship, take hwy. 13 south to County A.
Go 1/2 mile east on County A to 11th Drive
and turn north. Boat landing only.

Camping in Wisconsin
Campgrounds in Wisconsin are as varied as the areas around them--there are forests, prairies, lakes, rivers, hills, and valleys. You'll find campgrounds, trails, historic and archaeological sites, places for solitude and places for large group gatherings. There are also Campgrounds in county parks, state parks and national forests.
A typical campsite is in a natural setting with road access, a fire ring, and a picnic table, and can be used by either vehicle or tent campers. But there also are backpack, walk-in, and canoeing -in sites, sites with electrical hookups, and sites designed specifically for either tent or vehicle campers.

National Forest - The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is located in Wisconsin's Northwoods, covering over a million and a half acres. The Chequamegon side of the forest covers about 858,400 acres in Ashland, Bayfield, Sawyer, Price, Taylor, and Vilas counties while the Nicolet side covers nearly 661,400 acres in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Oconto, Oneida, and Vilas counties.
