Mascoutin Valley State Trail
The Mascoutin Valley State Trail is divided into two separate unpaved trails located in Southeastern Wisconsin. The 11.2-mile long west section extends between Berlin and Ripon. The 9.7-mile long east section extends from Rosendale to Fond du Lac. This county-operated trail goes past farms, prairies and wetlands in scenic Green Lake, Winnebago and Fond du Lac counties.
Trail Activities The entire trail is open to walking and bicycling. The trail base of limestone, grass and gravel makes the tread more suitable for off-road bikes. Wildlife viewing opportunities are available in the Eldorado Marsh Wildlife Area in Fond du Lac County and the Rush Lake Marsh area in Winnebago County.The Mascoutin Valley State Trail is open to horseback riding in Winnebago and Fond du Lac counties from May to October. Snowmobiles are permitted on the trail. Operators must follow all Wisconsin snowmobile laws. The trail also connects to numerous miles of county snowmobile trails. The trail is open to walking, bicycling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Hunting and trapping are not allowed on the trail corridor.

Campgrounds in Wisconsin are as varied as the areas around them--there are forests, prairies, lakes, rivers, hills, and valleys. You'll find campgrounds, trails, historic and archaeological sites, places for solitude and places for large group gatherings. A typical campsite is in a natural setting with road access, a fire ring, and a picnic table, and can be used by either vehicle or tent campers. But there also are backpack, walk-in, and canoeing -in sites, sites with electrical hookups, and sites designed specifically for either tent or vehicle campers.

National Forest - The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is located in Wisconsin's Northwoods, covering over a million and a half acres. The Chequamegon side of the forest covers about 858,400 acres in Ashland, Bayfield, Sawyer, Price, Taylor, and Vilas counties while the Nicolet side covers nearly 661,400 acres in Florence, Forest, Langlade, Oconto, Oneida, and Vilas counties.
